Yesterday we enjoyed the nice weather and took a trip to the Central Park Zoo. The kids had off from school and I took a vacation day and we hopped on a train to NYC. The weather was beautiful and the boys enjoyed walking in Central Park.
First stop was the Central Park Zoo where we got to see them feed the Sea Lions and we watched the Penguins and Polar Bears play in the water.
Then we headed down to Times Square to take in M&M World and the new Disney Store.
Afterwards we were all tired and hungry so we stopped at The Hard Rock Café for a nice dinner.
Well, its come and gone. Our 2009 Outer Banks vacation was a success and everyone had a great time. We ran into a small snag just before we left. Our 2007 Honda Odyssey was in the shop the week before to fix a small transmission leak and on the Friday before we left we were told by Honda that it wouldn’t be fixed until the Tuesday AFTER we were supposed to have left. So much for planning ahead!! We ended up driving my Dakota down to NC which was a bit of a squeeze with 5 people but it worked out better in the end. We had the bike rack to bring our bicycles down and we even took the truck on the 4×4 beach twice! The house was beautiful and the weather couldn’t have been better. All in all everyone had a great time. We’ll be heading back next year, that’s for sure.
We just returned home from our family reunion out at Bern and Judy’s house in Wisconsin. It was really nice catching up with all our relatives and getting to know all the spouses and children. It is surprising how big our family is, you don’t realize it until everyone is all in one place. Everyone had a great time, and the boys want to go back out and visit soon.
Today we took Alex and Nicholas in to Radio City Music Hall to see the Christmas spectacular. Both boys enjoyed the show a lot. Alex’s favorite part was when the Rockettes were dressed as Nutcrackers. Nicholas liked the part when the Nutcrackers all fell down and when they made it snow inside the theatre. I enjoyed the bus on stage. Afterwards we walked around Rockafeller Center and saw the tree and the ice skaters. Its too bad it wasn’t lit up yet. Then we went to the Nintendo store to check out the Wii and try out some games. We were hungry so then we ate lunch at Heartland Brewery. They had awesome beers that they brew themselves. After lunch we walked down 5th ave and saw the store windows all decorated for Christmas.
