Memorial Weekend

We participated in several events over the Memorial Day weekend for Scouts.  The first was on Memorial Day, Nicholas, Paula and I all marched in the Smithtown Memorial Day parade as part of the Cub Scouts.  And then Alex marched with his Middle School Marching Band.  It was perfect weather and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Then on June 1st, we all participated in Flag Retrieval out at Calverton National Cemetery.

Happy Holidays

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!  We’ll be spending some time up at Newport between the holidays.  Paula and I really want to get to see some of the mansions decorated for Christmas.  Plus it will be nice to get away.

Memorial Day 2011

This year both Alex and Nicholas participated in Memorial Day traditions with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. First they went to Calverton National Cemetery and helped place flags on all the graves to honor our veterans. Then on Monday, they actually marched in the Smithtown Memorial Day parade. Although it was very hot they all had a good time.

Happy Independence Day!!

The family celebrated a super Independence day with a BBQ. We spent it with family and friends enjoying the great weather and having an all around good time. Our neighbor put on an awesome fireworks display that I’d swear was a professional job. The pool had finally warmed up and they kids spent the day swimming and playing games. Paula organized a treasure hunt for the kids complete with a list of clues of things they had to find. The final clue led the two teams each to a cooler filled with water balloons, with the idea that they would end with a big water balloon fight. It was awesome and I know everyone had a great time.

Merry Christmas

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! The family is all doing well and everyone was very happy with their Christmas gifts. Santa brought Alex a new Wii console and Nicholas got his GeoTrax set. Of course Alex is now looking forward to his birthday (just one month away).
